Comparative Study of Genomic and Pathogenic Characteristics of the Human Coronaviruses

Author: DHANALAKSHMI.G , ANADI , UZMA FARHEEN
Abstract: Viruses cause various diseases, and some have even evolved with time to identify infection in humans. Coronaviruses are a kind of RNA viruses that induce respiratory diseases in vertebrates and flying creatures. The study planned to compare the genomic and pathogenic characteristics of the three human beta coronaviruses: SARS-CoV-2, CoV-1, and MERS. These sequences were downloaded from the viral genome sequences database of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and comparative analysis were performed using various computational tools. This study highlighted the most important features of SARS-CoV-2 compared to other Beta coronaviruses. Moreover, a comparison of genome size, G+C content, and Open Reading Frame (ORFs) was carried out. Based on this outcome, it concludes the MERS genomic sequences highly differ from the SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV.
