Dear editor, we would like to share ideas on the publication “Retrospective evaluation of Chest CTs and [18F]-FDG PET/CTs in Oncological Patients with Unsuspected Asymptomatic Infection with COVID 19 [1].” Ozturk et al. concluded that “Chest CT is used …… to the incidental diagnosis of especially asymptomatic COVID-19 oncological cases [1].” We agree that imaging investigation is useful for diagnosis of COVID-19. However, the experience of radiologist is an important determinant for success in diagnosis of COVID-19. There are several conditions that might result in a difficulty in diagnosis including the concurrent oncological condition and other medical disorder such as tuberculosis. The use of imaging investigation might help diagnose the lung problem but the final diagnosis of the infection still requires microbiological/molecular diagnosis examination which can help identify the possibility of co-infection [2 - 3]. Finally, a situation might be more difficult in interpretation of result in the present situation of mass COVID-19 vaccination. The imaging might give suspicious result for either oncological condition or infection in a COVID-19 vaccine recipient and further work-up are usually required.
