Aseptic Meningitis and mRNA Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccine
Dear Editor:
We would like to share ideas on the publication “Aseptic meningitis following second dose of an mRNA coronavirus disease 2019 vaccine in a healthy male: case report and literature review [1]”. Kang et al. described a case and speculated on a possible clinical link. We agree that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) immunization has the potential to cause side effects, with neurological problems being a potential risk. The vaccine recipient in this case developed meningitis, but there is no information on the patient’s immune/neruological state prior to inoculation. As a result, concluding a clinical relationship may be challenging. Recognize the likelihood of a concurrent medical condition in a COVID-19 vaccine recipient that could lead to neurological problems. Concurrent dengue infection is possible [2], and it may be the cause of aseptic meningitis [3].
