Evaluation of Sleep Quality and Its Related Factors in The Elderly with A History Of COVID-19

Abstract: Introduction: The elderly are one of the most vulnerable groups in society to pandemics, so the effects of COVID-19 pandemic are more severe for them. One of the problems that people develop due to the COVID-19 is sleep quality disorders. As a result, this study was designed and performed to evaluate the quality of sleep and its related factors in the elderly with a history of COVID-19. Method: The method used in this study was cross-sectional descriptive. The samples included 81 elderly referring to comprehensive health centers who were selected by the available sampling method. Two Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and demographic information form were used to collect data. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 22. Findings: The results showed that the elderly were at an unfavorable level in the sleep quality index) 4.28 ± 10.04(. Also, there was a significant relationship between age, physical activity, oxygen administration and history of chronic underlying diseases, and sleep quality score (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to the results, it is important to address the factors associated with sleep quality disorders in the elderly. These factors can be taken into account in the development of treatment and care programs.
