UKRAINE'S FINANCIAL SYSTEM INFLUENCED BY COVID-19

Summary

Studies of the status and trends of the impact of the Covid-19 acute respiratory disease caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on the economic situation and the determination of socio-economic consequences become increasingly important. The Ukrainian economy in the current realities and existing economic problems suffered serious losses, which continue growing and should be subject to systematic monitoring to determine the possibilities of overcoming them. This study directed to impact the spread of Covid-19 acute respiratory disease at the development of the Ukrainian financial system. The paper examines the impact of the Covid-19 acute respiratory disease on significant indicators of the financial system development and the main players of which are the state, business and citizens. The major indicators of economic and social development are variations in the real gross domestic product, fiscal situation, unemployment rate and inflation. The analysis of the gross domestic product by the end-use method allowed us to determine the changes in its structure between consumer spending and capital accumulation. An additional burden on the financial system was identified, which led to a restriction of economic activity. The Ukrainian state and local budgets were not fully implemented, but in order to support national entrepreneurship and the population in Ukraine a number of regulatory legal acts were adopted and a Fund was created to control the Covid-19 acute respiratory disease and its consequences. The implemented government`s policy of the support business entities and the population in the crisis period has certain results. The unemployment increase is due to the reduction number of employees by business entities and the mass return of Ukrainian citizens from other countries. However, it has been established that the trends in average monthly wages decrease annually and reduce the purchasing power at the current level of inflation. Based on the conducted research, we consider it necessary to improve the employment regulation policy and actions should be aimed at creating new jobs, as well as creating attractive conditions for accelerated recovery and overcoming negative consequences of quarantine restrictions for the creation and securing a stable macroeconomic environment.

Keywords: financial system; Covid-19; political activities; gross domestic product; budget; unemployment; inflation; wage.
