COVID-19 raises threatening scenario for otorhinolaryngology and rehabilitation

Abstract

This editorial is an introspection into healthcare systems in the perspective of the ongoing short and long term impact of COVID-19 on practice of otolaryngology & its allied specialties and possible solutions. With COVID-19 testing the mettle, resilience and strength of every facet of healthcare system, including developing countries with otolaryngologists and allied professionals being more exposed, threatened with contracting disease themselves and carrying it to their families.  Personal protection has become a norm with specialty faced with suspension of non-emergent consultations, examinations and electives with use of personal protective equipment mandatory even in emergent cases.
