ABSTRACT
For the first time, medical students across the world have found our placements, our annual exams and our subsequent progression through the medical degree have all been either cancelled, delayed or altered significantly. As UK medical students, we recently completed three months of ‘remote learning’, before sitting end-of-year exams online, and we are now entering our final year of medical school. Based on our experiences and our understanding of others’ experiences, we believe that three key lessons have been universal for medical students across the world.
It is imperative that we now address these lessons - the need for a fair system for medical students, the importance of adaptability in all aspects of medical education and the value of a strong medical school community. These three lessons could define the future development of medical education.
