Due to the effects of Corona 19, our society is engulfed in unrest and concern more than ever, and there is an enormous number of confirmed cases and deaths globally. In the midst of these situations, things are not looking too bright for religion. Some say that due to fear and worry that there would be an increase in interest in religion, but as a result of disappoints towards how the religious institutions and people responded to the preventative measures, there would actually be a decrease in interest. The fall of religion after the great 18th century Lisbon earthquake stands as a lesson to today’s religion. Unless religion can help to explain the proper meaning behind social calamities and function in a way to overcome the crisis, people will turn their backs on religion. The Korean church is experiencing one of the greatest crisis ever due to the Coronavirus, but must hold onto public responsibility. In the context of this kind of awareness of problems, this paper takes a look at not only the publicity of individual churches but of the whole church and discusses the measures for implementing it. For this, using the data from the statistical survey conducted this year, the paper will first probe the change in awareness of the church members towards the sabbath ritual and offering and their opinions toward the ban on worship services during the Corona lockdowns. Then reflecting on the theories of theologians and religio-sociologists, further discussions on the publicity of the church will be presented. Thereafter, on the basis of these theories, a discussion on the roles of post-Corona churches will continue. Firstly, with public responsibility, the church must help to overcome the crisis with trust as a foundation. Then it must be able to make society safer by not only being a community but also making the local society into a community. Finally, through catholic church, it must create conditions for various entities within the church ecosystem to work together. By fulfilling these roles, the Korean church will be able to overcome the crisis brought on by the Corona situation and grasp the opportunity of conducting the essential mission of the church.

지금 우리 사회는 코로나 19의 여파로 그 어느 때보다 불안과 염려에 휩싸여 있다. 전세계적으로 엄청난 확진자와 사망자가 발생하고 있다. 이러한 코로나 사태 속에서 종교에 대한 전망은 그리 밝지 않다. 바이러스에 대한 공포와 불안감으로 종교에 대 한 관심이 커질 것이라고도 하지만 한편에서는 전염병에 대처하는 종교인들과 종교 기관에 대한 실망으로 종교에 대한 관심이 줄어들 것이라고 전망하기도 한다. 18세기 리스본 대지진 이후에 종교가 몰락한 것은 오늘날 종교에 큰 교훈이 된다. 사회적 재 난에 대해서 종교가 올바른 의미를 부여하고 위기 극복을 위해 종교가 역할을 하지 못한다면 사람들은 종교에 등을 돌리게 될 것이다. 한국 교회는 코로나 사태로 인해 유사 이래 가장 큰 위기에 직면해 있지만 어떠한 상황에서도 교회는 공공성을 견지해 야 하며 우리 사회에 대한 공적인 책임 의식을 가져야 한다. 이러한 문제의식에서 이 글에서는 개교회의 공공성 뿐만 아니라 전체 교회의 공교 회성에 대해서 살펴보고 이를 실천하기 위한 방안에 대하여 논의한다. 이를 위해 먼저, 올해 발표된 통계 조사 결과를 통해 주일 성수와 헌금에 대한 교인들의 의식 변 화와 코로나 상황 중에 예배당 예배를 중단하는 것에 대한 의견을 살펴본다. 그리고 신학자들과 종교사회학자들의 이론을 통해서 교회 공공성에 대한 논의를 전개한다. 다음으로 이러한 이론적 바탕 위에서 코로나 이후 교회의 역할에 대하여 논의한다. 먼저 교회는 공적인 책임을 가지고 신뢰를 바탕으로 위기를 극복할 수 있도록 도와야 한다. 그리고 교회 스스로 공동체일 뿐만 아니라 지역사회를 공동체화 함으로써 사회 를 보다 안전하게 만들 수 있어야 한다. 마지막으로 공교회성을 통해서 교회 생태계 안의 다양한 주체들이 서로 협력할 수 있는 여건을 만들어야 한다. 이러한 역할을 감 당함으로써 한국 교회가 코로나로 인한 위기 상황을 극복하고 교회의 본질적 사명을 감당하는 기회로 삼을 수 있을 것이다.
