Abstract. The impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic which originated in Wuhan in 2019 has had an unprecedented impact on everyday life over the past year. This is especially true for both students and teachers across the globe, with UNESCO (2020) estimating that school closures had affected over one and a half billion students across the globe at the end of 2020. Due to the pandemic teachers were suddenly forced with little warning, or training to adapt their teaching and pedagogical approaches from face-to-face teaching to distance and hybrid teaching. This thesis examines, via means of a literature review, how well primary school teachers were prepared for this shift, the role of technology in their teaching and the evolution of teaching practises during this shift to distant education. Additionally, support mechanisms available for teachers during this shift to distance teaching were also examined. The theoretical background of the thesis first explores two educational trends, p...

The Phenomena of Learning Loss Experienced by Elementary School Students during the Covid-19 Post PandemicThe COVID-19 pandemic caused most students to experience learning loss after joining online learning for almost 2 years. Learning loss is a student's condition experiencing learning setbacks academically due to the factors of the non-sustainable educational process. The study aimed at analyzing the learning loss phenomenon experienced by elementary school students in the COVID-19 post-pandemic situation. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach. The population of the study was 401,321 distributed students, and the sample was gained through conducting two sampling techniques, such as random cluster sampling and accidental sampling, with a final sample of 1,104 students. The data collection methodologies conducted were interview, observation, and questionnaire. The questionnaire used contained 15 questions that had been validated before. The data analysis of the study was conducted interactively using 3 techniques, such as data reduction, data display, and drawing conclus...

A global outlook to the interruption of education due to COVID-19 Pandemic: Navigating in a time of uncertainty and crisis2020 •
Uncertain times require prompt reflexes to survive and this study is a collaborative reflex to better understand uncertainty and navigate through it. The Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic hit hard and interrupted many dimensions of our lives, particularly education. As a response to interruption of education due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this study is a collaborative reaction that narrates the overall view, reflections from the K12 and higher educational landscape, lessons learned and suggestions from a total of 31 countries across the world with a representation of 62.7% of the whole world population. In addition to the value of each case by country, the synthesis of this research suggests that the current practices can be defined as emergency remote education and this practice is different from planned practices such as distance education, online learning or other derivations. Above all, this study points out how social injustice, inequity and the digital divide have been exacerbate...

Challenges in Education During the Second Year of Pandemic2021 •
The assessment quality of education during the second year of a pandemic was carried out. Under continuous social isolation, the maint to study appears as a major problem with all consequences lower attention to virtual lectures; lower virtual practice; and over 50 % drop of students in some specialties. Trakia University, including the Faculty of Technics and Technologies, had an online well-developed virtual learning environment on Moodle, since 2008. Up to pandemic closure, the mixed methods of learning were applied with great success. The first wave of pandemics passes without a strong negative effect on the quality of education. Even more, it has given the students and teachers new opportunities for implementing innovative methods of learning at a vast rate. Students, teachers, and administration stuff got adapted to the new circumstances and cope well. Nevertheless, the influence of the global health crisis triggered insecurity for the human future well-being and increased the chronic stress that deteriorate the authority of institutions and rearranged the human priorities. In the field of education, that the attendance of on-lectures, lower motivation of learning, and drop of students during the second year.

Adapting to the situation caused by the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic in schools with children mostly from disadvantageous background2021 •
The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world, people’s everyday life, and has also had an impact on schools. The aim of our paper is to show how primary schools have coped with the transition to digital learning where the proportion of disadvantaged and cumulatively disadvantaged students is between 50% and 80%. The schools included in the study are the institutions of the education district of South Borsod, one in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. We anticipate that due to the low number of items in the sample (a total of 6 schools), the survey can be considered representative of the education district and it cannot with regard to the county or the country. The research covers a two-month period from the start of the crisis, i.e. the closure of schools. The research started with an online questionnaire, which provided information on what tools and competencies students and teachers have for the transition to digital learning, and then in a structured interview, we wanted to f...

The emergence and rapid spread of the Coronavirus in the spring of 2020 has fundamentally changed our lives. The most important change has been the attempt to minimise face-to-face contacts everywhere in order to keep the epidemic under control. Public gatherings were banned, shopping malls were closed, and sporting events were also cancelled. As COVID-19 spread as easily among children as among adults, schools could not escape the restrictions. During the first wave of the epidemic, institutions had to switch to emergency remote education (ERE) at very short notice, which presented a number of problems for all participants. These problems and experiences of the switch should be collected at all levels of education, as they not only help to prepare for similar situations, but may also lead to conclusions that can be used to make the methods and solutions of classroom-based teaching more motivating, more effective or even more efficient. In this paper, we review both the challenges of the transition and the possible implications for the future teaching-learning process by reflecting on the lessons learned.
