This study explores the meaning of the educational practice of pre-service early childhood teachers experienced in the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, a qualitative analysis was conducted on the reflective journals and personal and group interview data of 12 pre-service early childhood teachers who completed 4 weeks of training from May 18 to June 13, 2020. As a result, the pre-service early childhood teachers expressed the experiences of educational practice as ‘confusion, fear, and anxiety’, ‘limited encounters with infants, limited experiences’, and ‘even so, an expanded understanding of the early childhood teaching profession.’ Through the analysis of the experience of this educational practice, it is suggested that a pre-service early childhood teachers’ curriculum needed to further strengthen the practical knowledge. In addition, with this opportunity, we propose a change and reorganization of the pre-service early childhood teachers’ curriculum to cultivate competent early childhood teachers suitable for the future society and the educational field preparing for the post-corona era, out of the existing rigid curriculum system.
